The Waldzither



Surviving instrument from 1930's, made by Boehm, Germany.
The waldzither (German: "forest cittern") is a plucked string instrument from Germany developed around 1900. It is a type of cittern that has nine steel strings in five courses (lowest course single). Different types of waldzither come in different tunings, which are generally open tunings as usual in citterns.
